For the love of pets. Because they are things in life that simply have no words...

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's
soul remains unawakened.
Anatole France

The relationship between animals and people is undeniable. Domesticated pets are incredibly adapted to human needs. Anyone who lives with a dog or a cat knows that in the long run pets work out unusual ways to communicate their needs to their owners. My Cocker Spaniel always sneezes two times in a row when my husband comes home just to let him know that I am cooking and it “smells”. He also tends to communicate with his eyes. It's very funny and bizarre at the same way. If he wants something all he needs to do is “point” with his eyes. He always makes sure he establishes eye contact first.

It's hard to believe there are people who have never open their homes to a deserving pet. I wish people could understand that pets are a gift to mankind. Pets are not in our possession to be beaten, starved, or murdered. These pets are here for us to remind us to be wild, gentle, playful, loyal, to trust, have fun, live simply, value our family, and love unconditionally. Sounds like the perfect happiness recipe to me. Who knew pets can be so inspirational :D

“Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life.”
James Cromwell

I believe in animal rights, and high among them is the right to the gentle stroke of a human hand.  Robert Brault

Quote Of The Week - Happiness by Henry David Thoreau

"Happiness is like a butterfly.
The more you chase it, the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things,
It comes and sits softly on your shoulder."

Henry David Thoreau

Ladybug a Sweet Dachshund from DREAM Dachshund Rescue is Looking for a Great Place to Call Home

DREAM Dachshund Rescue is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on saving dachshunds and close mixes in the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah areas. There are purebred dogs in desperate need all over Georgia -- and not just dachshunds! If you are looking for a pet to add to your home, you can search on www.petfinder.com for any breed or size of dog, cat, ferret, or horse -- all in your zipcode and in need of a loving family!

Consider Ladybug a sassy little girl, about 8 years young. She is an excellent and steadfast companion. Ladybug's dream home would be with a quiet single person or couple who lives a calm life. She would do just fine as an only dog, too -- all the more attention for her, she says!  Her previous owner suffered a stroke and became unable to care for her. Ladybug's future was uncertain, but luckily DREAM had some space and wanted to give Ladybug her chance at a great life. She is looking forward to the time that she has a home she can call her own again, and she hopes that she never has to say goodbye to that family for the rest of her life. Ladybug does have Cushing's disease, which affects her adrenal gland and is very common in dachshunds. She takes one small pill a day to control the symptoms and she is good to go. Ladybug lives with kids now, but to be honest, she would be happiest in a home with only older children who are not too loud or move around too much -- she needs her peace and quiet!

Ladybug will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm tested. (She's had a dental, too!) If you are interested in adopting Ladybug, you can fill out an application right at our website! Go to www.dreamrescue.org/Adopt. Then click on Our Online Application. Ladybug's adoption fee is $200.  (All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds, and most dogs' veterinary expenses are much  greater than our adoption fees.

You can also follow DREAM on twitter (@dreamrescue) and on Facebook.  And don't forget Howl-O-Weenie, our dachshund festival on October 1, 2011!  Details at www.dreamrescue.org

Every Woman is Someone's Daughter

Suddenly, through birthing a daughter, a woman finds herself face to face not only with an infant, a little girl, a woman-to-be, but also with her own unresolved conflicts from the past and her hopes and dreams for the future.... As though experiencing an earthquake, mothers of daughters may find their lives shifted, their deep feelings unearthed, the balance struck in all relationships once again off kilter.  ~Elizabeth Debold and Idelisse Malave

For the Love of Turquoise - Inspiring Home Interior Designs

If you have never thought of using turquoise in your every day home decor, these photos are going to make you run to the nearest home store. Turquoise is and will always be my favorite color. Turquoise can be cheery, sweet, feminine and sophisticated all at the same time.

People who likes the color turquoise are described as  friendly, approachable, and easy to communicate with. They are compassionate, empathetic, caring and  have a heightened sense of creativity and sensitivity.

Turquoise lovers speak from the heart and love sharing their inner most thoughts. As a personality color,  turquoise lovers have highly developed intuitive abilities. They seek spiritual fulfillment, and are often an evolved or 'old' soul.
