Review: Jersey Boys at The Fabulous Fox Theatre

Oh what a night! This past Friday we had the experience to watch the  Tony-award winning show 'Jersey Boys'  at the Fox Theatre.

JERSEY BOYS is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. This is the story of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty.

Jersey Boys is a full-fledged, well-produced, amazing Broadway experience. The show is straight forward biography and is a must see even if you are not into Broadway musicals. The songs are played exactly as they sound in the original soundtracks. The audience goes wild, and as much as you try to hold it you always end up singing and dancing with the crowd. I swear. I'm still humming the songs in my head.... The show has a lot of profanity, but is nothing "scandalous" or extremely offensive. Is just the typical "jersey" language. I took my 11 y/o and  she LOVED the show.

Overall, Jersey Boys is one of the top 15 must see Broadway musicals of all times.
Tickets for JERSEY BOYS begin at $28 and are available through authorized ticket sellers at the Fox Theatre Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.broadwayinatlanta.com or by phone at 1-800-982-2787. Orders for groups of 10 or more may be placed by calling 404-881-2000. Performance schedule, prices and cast are subject to chance without notice. Scoop on Poop Dished Out by New Exhibition at the Fernbank Museum

I POOP, YOU POOP, EVERYTHING POOPS

Poop is really fascinating stuff. Some people are not aware that poop can be used to build homes. You can also use it as firewood, or toss it around as a sport. Some wild animals eat it, others use it to send messages, while some squirt it over themselves to cool off. As part of evolution trees started growing fruits in order to trick animals into eating seeds which they spread around in their droppings. Poop had a very important role during World War II. It was used to hide explosives knowing that German tank drivers thought it was good luck to drive over them.

The Scoop on Poop at the Fernbank Museum is a interactive, Science-Based Fun Delivers the #1 Exhibit about #2! Is a must see for the entire family. It's on view from May 26 through September 3, 2012.

The Scoop on Poop, is a hands-on, humorous approach to learning the science of studying animals based on the clues they leave behind. There's tons of ewww and lot's of giggles from the little ones  as you go through the exhibit.

The exhibition sprung from the pages of the popular The Scoop on Poop children’s book by Dr. Wayne Lynch as a tactful blend of good science and fun. Featuring three live animal displays that include hissing cockroaches, live mice and a box turtle, the interactive exhibition uses a sense of humor to investigate a subject people often find difficult to talk about with a straight face.

The Scoop on Poop features large colorful graphic panels, three-dimensional models, and fun interactive components. Visitors are invited to listen in on an animal’s digestive system, learn the language of poop in countries around the world, examine fecal samples in a veterinarian’s lab, compete in dung beetle races, track wild animals by clues left in scat, see how long it takes an elephant to poop its body weight, improve their “#2 IQ” in stool school, and “meet” a dinosaur dung detective.

Purchase Tickets
The Scoop on Poop is included with Museum admission, which is $17.50 for adults, $16.50 for students/seniors, $15.50 for children ages 3-12, and free for children ages 2 and younger. The exhibition is free for Museum members. Special discounts are also available to schools and other groups of 10 or more.

Memorial Day: ‘And Always Remember, Freedom Isn’t Free’

There is no happiness without liberty and no freedom without courage...

Thanksgiving is the day we pause to give thanks for the things we have. Memorial day is a day we pause to give thanks to the people who fought for the things we have...

Memorial day is much more that having a day off to hang out with friends and family. This is a day were we show our patriotism and gratitude for the sacrifices that have been made for us.

On Memorial day please turn the spotlight on our fallen heroes and the sacrifices they made for our country. Always remember that freedom isn't free, it never has been and it never will be. It has been paid with tears, blood, and incredible sacrifices for the last 200 years.

May God eternally bless the American heroes who gave all. Happy Memorial Day, America. Never forget.

Through My Lens: Inside World of Coca-Cola and The Vault of The Secret Formula

The Bluebird of Happiness has landed on liquid happiness. This Mother's day I was invited by World of Coca-Cola to visit their newest attraction The Vault of The Secret Formula. The formula for Coca-Cola is the most closely guarded secret in the history of American commerce. For the first time in over 85 years, the 125 year old formula is guarded in a new location. The secret formula was moved from a bank vault in Atlanta to the World of Coca-Cola and hidden in plain sight, in a brand new exhibit, where visitors can experience the world's most recognized brand like never before.

The below clip shows how the tour unfolds. Visitors step through a huge vault door and are transported into a tale about the mysterious trade secret in history. It's contains stories, games, and installations allowing participants to directly interact with the mysticism surrounding the legendary formula.

"The move of the Coca-Cola secret formula is a historic moment for the Company," said Phil Mooney, Director of Archives, The Coca-Cola Company. "The Company has always gone to great lengths to protect it and now by safeguarding it at the World of Coca-Cola, we can share its legendary legacy with people around the world."

After Dr. John S. Pemberton invented Coca-Cola in 1886, the formula was kept a close secret, only shared with a small group and not written down. In 1891, Asa Candler became the sole proprietor of Coca-Cola after purchasing the rights to the business. Then, in 1919, Ernest Woodruff and a group of investors purchased the Company from Candler and his family. To finance the purchase Woodruff arranged a loan and as collateral he provided documentation of the formula by asking Candler's son to commit the formula to paper. This was placed in a vault in the Guaranty Bank in New York until the loan was repaid in 1925. At that point, Woodruff reclaimed the secret formula and returned it to Atlanta and placed it in the Trust Company Bank, now SunTrust, where it remained until its recent move to the World of Coca-Cola.

Pure Knead and Frannie's Gluten Free: Atlanta's "Little Bakers That Could"

Move out Betty Crocker there's new bakers in town.

Pure Knead and Frannie's Gluten Free are taking the gluten free world by storm. What started as a hobby,  for a mom of a child with food allergies, and a girl who planted her own zucchinis for her cupcakes, has blossomed into a successful,  thriving business.

Pure Knead is a dedicated bakery specializing in allergy friendly fare.  All Pure Knead products are free of gluten, dairy, soy, peanuts, treenuts and shellfish, and are made with natural ingredients. The facility and all products are nationally certified by the Gluten Free Certification Organization.

Their products include two varieties of hamburger buns, hot dog buns, hoagie sandwich rolls, baguettes, rosemary bread braids, artisan boules, and many other specialty bread items. Desserts include cookies, cakes, cupcakes, bread puddings, tarts, and more.

All Pure Knead products are made of all natural ingredients and hand-batched in a dedicated facility certified by the Gluten Free Cerification Organization. All products are gluten free, and contain no dairy, soy, peanuts, treenuts or shellfish.

Frannie's Gluten Free muffins are produced at the Pure Knead facility. Frannie's "Allergy Smart Muffins" are moist, delicious and good for you too. They are gluten, dairy, nut & soy free. Frances Shaw, created the recipes for Frannie’s Gluten Free when she discovered that she had several food allergies. As she learned more about dietary restrictions, she wanted to develop a recipe that she could share with family and friends. After experimenting in the kitchen, she came up with the original zucchini recipe. The result is an amazing gluten free muffin!

Pure Knead and Frannie's Gluten Free hosted a media brunch at the King Plows Art Center to promote their latest venture, introducing their product line to Kroger.

Their products are sold at selected Kroger stores with hopes to expand to other stores.
