If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it”  ~Common sense

Organic food is the fastest growing sector of the American food marketplace. Forty percent of Americans said organic food will be a bigger part of their diet within one year and 63 percent buy organic foods and beverages at least sometimes, according to a recent Roper
survey.

This fall, Grape Crush Productions is bringing together Atlanta’s finest in organic and eco-friendly companies for the launch of the Organic Wine & Food Fair on National Food Day.

Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Organic foods are also not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives.

The Organic Wine & Food Fair will take place Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6-10 p.m. at the Trees Atlanta Kendada Center, a LEED Platinum Certified community resource full of sustainable features, located in the Reynoldstown neighborhood.

As guests enjoy a complimentary tasting of artisan wines from around the globe (many from organically grown grapes) and live entertainment they’ll also have the opportunity to shop at the local “green” pop-up market and savor delicious fare. That evening locals who have made a significant impact on the sustainable food movement will be honored for their work.

General admission tickets are $25 in advance online and $35 at the door.  All guests must be 21 or older to attend with valid identification.  To purchase tickets, visit http://fooddayatlanta.eventbrite.com and for the latest festival news and updates visit Grape Crush Productions on Facebook or Twitter.
Food Day is a nationwide celebration and movement towards more healthy, affordable and sustainable food. The holiday brings together all aspects of food from sustainable agriculture, to nutrition and health, to access and affordability. Food Day is more than just another day. It is a smart, timely grassroots campaign to raise awareness and find solutions to problems inherent in our food system.

“Atlanta’s efforts to produce organic food, eco-friendly products, and educate its community on the importance of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle continue to grow each year.  Through the Organic Wine & Food Fair, we want to provide a platform for local eco-friendly businesses to showcase their products as well as educate our guests on the burgeoning organic wine and food available in our community,” states Kyla Cox, founder and president of Grape Crush Productions.  “We’re thrilled to host this inaugural event on Food Day at the stunning Trees Atlanta Kendada Center, one of the first organizations in the city to make efforts to improve our environment and educate people on the importance of a green lifestyle.”

  1. I like to try to eat organic when possible, although it's frequently more expensive than I can afford. I am able to grow some produce organically myself, so that helps.

  2. I'm really concerned about all the additives in food and have been purchasing more and more organic fruits and vegetables. Fortunately grocery stores and farmers markets are doing a great job of expanding the offerings.
