How to Build a Resume That Stands Out Visually To Help Your Teen Land Their First Job

Creating a captivating resume that sparkles bright enough to catch an employer's attention is an art on its own terms.

With the ramp up pressure kids experience at school and the need to sign up to too many extracurricular activities, it’s no surprise how the number of teens employed have been declining over the past decades.
There are many benefits (and risks) of adolescent employment. The decision to allow your teen to have an after school job should be a well thought-out family decision based on how well they can manage responsibilities, time management and money.

But if your teen is ready to take the plunge the first thing they need to figure out is how to build a resume that stands out even if they don’t have any work experience.

But where to start? How do can you create a snapshot of your ambitions, show your strengths and interests and captive an employers attention?
This is the part Canvas comes in and rescues the day. If you are unfamiliar Canvas, this is a graphic-design t…

Spread Holiday Cheer With Straight Talk Holiday Devices #StraightTalkCheer

*This is a sponsored post by Straight Talk Wireless.

With the average smart-phone plan costing nearly a one hundred dollars a month a lot of people are looking for ways to lower their bill, especially during the holiday season. This Christmas we are adding a touch of holiday cheer with Straight Talk’s holiday devices. I have been using a Straight Talk phone for the past couple of months and I am very impressed with how easy was for me to set it up. The coverage was my biggest fear since I'm always on the go covering events, but not once have this phone failed me. I can take pictures, videos, and post them immediately no matter where I am. Data in unlimited but I like to keep it off and only use it when I need it. This has always been a habit of mine, since I tend to be connected to WIFI most of the time.

If your little ones asked “Santa” for a new phone this year, Straight Talk phones are your best option. Since they are prepaid, if they loose them, you will not be forced to add one…

On Monday November 10, Celebrity chef Paula Deen visitedAtlanta to promote her live cooking show, Paula Deen Live!, presented by Springer Mountain Farms Chicken. Paula Deen Live Holiday Edition! will be at the Atlanta Symphony Hall at Woodruff Arts Center this Sunday.
I was so lucky to be invited the meet and greet event at the Guy Gunter Showroom House. I was so curious so see her cooking live and interacting with bloggers and media. I always wonder is she really that nice? Yes she is! Paula is such a beautiful spirit, as soon as she enters the room everyone smiles. She is very affectionate, kind, and a very down to earth person. She acknowledges every single person in the room and makes the effort to connects with them one by one.

Her husband Michael was there too and it was so wonderful to see how much love they have for each other. They make a great couple, and I don't think Paula would be able to do all she does without his support. Paula not only talked about her cooking sho…

Calling All Superheroes! Support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta on Cape Day! #CapeDayATL

What is Cape Day? Some superheroes battle scary villains. At Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our superheroes fight something much scarier—accidents and illnesses that create challenges most of us could never imagine. One superhero patient in particular, DJPitts, has overcome near impossible obstacles, and when he dons a cape, nothing is out of reach.

DJ wore many capes during his six-month hospital stay after accidentally swallowing a dangerous engine cleaning material. From Batman and Superman capes to a homemade cape that proudly said “Super DJ,” the capes helped power DJ through the toughest of days.

Armed with his extraordinary powers and donning his signature cape, DJ is going to show the world just how strong he is by making a 19-story building crumble to the ground on Saturday, Nov. 8. To help build DJ’s superhero confidence the day before the implosion, people across Atlanta will show support for DJ by wearing capes on Cape Day.

Who is participating? Staff and patients at Chil…

Spirited Solo Performance Captures the True Meaning of Holiday Season
The annual holiday classic, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, is returning to Aurora Theatre for its eighth consecutive year, November 28-December 21. In true storytelling fashion, audiences travel back to 19th century England for an incredibly personal and moving one-man version of the cherished story that grasps the true meaning of the holiday season – the joy of giving. Starring Aurora veteran Anthony P. Rodriguez as the cold and bitter Ebenezer Scrooge with direction by Tony Brown, audiences are invited to rediscover Dickens’ oft-told tale that has touched hearts for more than 150 years.
“Many think of A Christmas Carol as a huge theatrical production, but the beauty of our version is the simplicity behind it,” said Anthony Rodriguez, Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director. “Before the novel was brought to stage, Dickens actually read the story at Christmas parties in England as entertainment, which is why t…
