How to Build a Resume That Stands Out Visually To Help Your Teen Land Their First Job

Creating a captivating resume that sparkles bright enough to catch an employer's attention is an art on its own terms.

With the ramp up pressure kids experience at school and the need to sign up to too many extracurricular activities, it’s no surprise how the number of teens employed have been declining over the past decades.
There are many benefits (and risks) of adolescent employment. The decision to allow your teen to have an after school job should be a well thought-out family decision based on how well they can manage responsibilities, time management and money.

But if your teen is ready to take the plunge the first thing they need to figure out is how to build a resume that stands out even if they don’t have any work experience.

But where to start? How do can you create a snapshot of your ambitions, show your strengths and interests and captive an employers attention?
This is the part Canvas comes in and rescues the day. If you are unfamiliar Canvas, this is a graphic-design t…

Emma Watson Delivers Game-Changing Speech on Feminism #HeForShe

In an effort to solidify unity for HeForShe, a movement for gender equality, 24-year-old actress and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson gave a powerful speech about the misconceptions surrounding feminism.
The UN Women campaign called "HeForShe" recognizes gender equality not only as a women's issue, but a human rights issue that affects all of us, and liberates both women and men from prescribed social roles and gender stereotypes. This campaign has the goal of mobilizing one billion men to speak-up and take action in ending the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls around the world.

In the speech that earned her a standing ovation, Watson stressed the importance of equality, gender roles, feminism and men’s involvement in promoting women’s rights.

"I decided that I was a feminist. This seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Women are choosing not to identify as feminists. Apparently…

What's Happy This Week! Captain America Visits Children's Healthcare Of Atlanta

Crash 'Captain America' Clark surprises sick boy

11Alive news has always been our favorite news channel, not only because they allow us to be a media contributor for their community websites, but because it is the only news channel that actively perform random acts of kindness on our community. Their latest recipient, Trevon Williams a seven-year-old that is recovering from his second liver transplant at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, received an unexpected visit from Crash Clark, a "trafficologist" on the 11Alive morning show. He surprised Trevon with the new movie, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, a Captain America mask and shield, and Falcons tickets for him and his family to attend an upcoming game. But the best part of was how Trevon had the opportunity to hangout time with his all time favorite superhero. I mean watch the video below and watch how big his smile is. Melts my heart!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall I Am Enough After All! #iamEnough

We are The Mrs., is an all-female band from Austin, Texas. They recently asked women how they felt when they looked in the mirror. Surprisingly most woman immediate reaction was negative and most of them had a hard time embracing their beauty and unique qualities. The mirror didn't like the answers that women were giving and responded back, teaching them why are they not only beautiful but pretty darn awesome!
"ENOUGH" looking in the mirror with such a critical eye.
"ENOUGH" of that negative voice we hear in our heads.
"ENOUGH" letting the world tell us who we should be.

The Mrs.' debut single, "Enough", was written to help women see themselves with a less critical eye, and realize that they are "Enough" just the way they are. Instead of creating a traditional music video, they opted to do something unconventional: take our message directly to the women who inspire us.

Here's part of the lyric that we love so much!
"Somet…
