Circus for Social Good - The Big Apple Circus Rises Again!

We had the pleasure to visit the Big Apple Circus this past weekend. Their new show Luminocity, celebrates the vitality of life at the Crossroads of the World!   If you have never been to the Big Apple Circus you will be surprised that no seat is more than 50 feet from ringside! This makes the show a more enjoyable one-of-a-kind intimate experience.    The performers are amazing and extremely talented and this is the type of show that makes you laugh until your belly hurts! Is that funny! Watch rowdy pups perform amazing tricks, double trapeze artists soaring high above, a bashful clown, an irrepressible flimflam man, and a juggler extraordinaire; teeter-board acrobats flying through the air, a cavalcade of magnificent steeds, and a couple of amazing wire-walkers suspended in mid-air. The show runs two hours, including one intermission.    The Big Apple Circus will have a special Valentine’s Day performance. For the 7p...

Thought of the Day: How would You Like to be Remembered?

About a hundred years ago, a man looked at the morning newspaper and to his surprise and horror, read his name in the obituary column. The news papers had reported the death of the wrong person by mistake.  His first response was shock. Am I here or there? When he regained his composure, his second thought was to find out what people had said about him. The obituary read, “Dynamite King Dies.” And also “He was the merchant of death.”  This man was the inventor of dynamite and when he read the words “merchant of death,” he asked himself a question, “Is this how I am going to be remembered?”  He got in touch with his feelings and decided that this was not the way he wanted to be remembered. From that day on, he started working toward peace. His name was Alfred Nobel and he is remembered today by the great Nobel Prize.  Just as Alfred Nobel got in touch with his feelings and redefined his values, We should step back and do the same. What is your legacy? H...

Behind Every Great Kid is a Mom Who's Pretty Sure She's Screwing it Up

Moms be sure to give yourselves a break and stop beating yourself up up for every little thing. Stop second guessing yourselves and have confidence in your decisions. You don't become a better mother by being perfect. You become a better mother by practicing self compassion, opening yourself to new ideas, and knowing and accepting your limits . Is time to leave insecurities behind and give yourself permission to be imperfect. No more perfect moms!

Million Dollar Quartet at the Fox Theatre transports you for 90 minutes to 1956, an era were genres like African American blues, jump blues, country, jazz, and gospel music fused to produce one of the most important music genres of all times, rock 'n' roll.  " Million Dollar Quartet" is the name given to recordings made on Tuesday December 4, 1956 in the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The recordings were of an impromptu jam session among Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash". The beauty about Million Dollar Quartet is that all the actors do their own singing and instrument playing. It feels like you are in a live rock 'n' roll concert were the c rowd breaks out in frenzy, screaming, whistling and shouting. In a way, Million Dollar Quartet makes you feel nostalgic of the end of an illustrious era, filled with rebellion, harmony-filled songs, and musical supremacy. Million Dollar Quartet is   highly...
