BEST PLACE TO LAY DOWN YOUR TOWEL Park near the Tybee Beach Beach and Pavilion ( Tybrisa St, Tybee Island, GA 31328) use the bridge  in front of the Tybee Island Marine Center  turn right and walk towards the rock formation close to the sand dunes. This portion of the beach has a smoother sand, lots of shallow areas that are perfect for little kids to bathe safely, is less crowded, and because it's close to the sand dunes you will see a large variety of seaside birds.

1,000-foot waterslide coming to Decatur #SlideTheCity

There is a super cool event coming to the city of Decatur in celebration of the 30 th anniversary of the Decatur Business Association. Slide The City is a family fun day in the sun featuring a 1,000ft waterslide that will stretch down W. Ponce de Leon Avenue, from Clairemont Avenue to Ponce de Leon Place. Slide the City takes the concept of the backyard Slip'N Slide and super-sizes it. The event is not free and you need to register online. For more information please visit: www.slidethecity.com .  

Celebrate National Train Day with SAM Shortline's "Touch-A-Train" event!

A day full of fun and family-friendly activities at the Georgia Veterans State Park - SAM Shortline Depot. Call for more information. Come celebrate National Train Day at the Cordele-Crisp "Touch-A-Train" event presented by SAM Shortline! Young and old will be able to get up close and take pictures with our train, including our Heart of Georgia engine and the train conductors. Other equipment will be on display including tractors and big trucks too. There will also be oppportunities to take a short train ride over Lake Blackshear. Georgia Prepares To Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday And The Joy Of Reading (The Children's Museum of Atlanta)

  Sunday, March 2, 2014, Dr. Seuss’ 109th birthday, will mark the 16th year of the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America , an event that focuses on the critical need to instill a love of reading in our children. The event’s state sponsor, the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), in conjunction with The Children’s Museum of Atlanta , have once again planned an exciting kick-off for the week’s activities, which will be taking place in schools, libraries and businesses throughout Georgia. The official kick-off event will take place on Monday, March 3 from 11:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. at The Children’s Museum and will include a Read-A-Thon, where boys and girls (up to age 8) will listen to guest readers.
