Feature exhibit encouraging children to explore and express emotions closes September 5 School is back in session, which means feelings are front and center for the start of a new year! While kids adjust to the hustle and bustle of fresh beginnings, now is the perfect time for families to head to Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s exploratory exhibition XOXO: An Exhibit About Love & Forgiveness before it closes on Monday, September 5!  Offering an introspective look at the power of emotion and its impact, children will explore these feelings through 14 different engaging experiences including a response wall, story puzzle, empathy blocks, a reflection table, art making stations and more! Each of these brightly colored spaces is designed to help children understand, appreciate and express how they feel in an interactive, hands-on environment!

Bring in any 10 travel-sized toiletry items and receive $1 off each ticket to the Children's Museum of Atlanta . They will be collecting items all month long and donating them to teenage girls in shelters and group homes. Each box will be decorated in the Maker's Space and then filled with the items donated! Children are invited to illustrate their favorite memories of a frozen Atlanta   Calling all aspiring artists!  In honor of the city’s recent winter weather weirdness,  The Children’s Museum of Atlanta  is teaming up with the  Atlanta Regional Commission  to host a “ Snow Show”  artwork exhibit! From building snowmen, spending the night with friends or just enjoying time with family when the power went out, children are encouraged to channel their inner Picasso and recreate their favorite memories during the snow and ice days in early February. To be eligible for the Snow Show, all artwork must be mailed or delivered to The Children’s Museum of Atlanta by  Friday, March 14 . The top 20 pieces will be framed and displayed at The Children’s Museum during the American Planning Association (APA) Conference April 26-30. Superhero Science Night Saturday, March 22, 6:30-8:30 pm Super Hero Science Night at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta will help to kick off the Atlanta Science Festival! Science stations will be set up in each learning zone for facilitated hands on exploration and fun. Guest scientists include Grady Gearbox Gangstaz Robotics Team, the award winning robotics team of Grady High School. At the end of the evening everyone will come together for a Mad Science Show hosted by the museum’s Professor Labcoat. Come dressed as your favorite super hero and join us. Tickets are limited.   Sunday, March 2, 2014, Dr. Seuss’ 109th birthday, will mark the 16th year of the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America , an event that focuses on the critical need to instill a love of reading in our children. The event’s state sponsor, the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), in conjunction with The Children’s Museum of Atlanta , have once again planned an exciting kick-off for the week’s activities, which will be taking place in schools, libraries and businesses throughout Georgia. The official kick-off event will take place on Monday, March 3 from 11:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. at The Children’s Museum and will include a Read-A-Thon, where boys and girls (up to age 8) will listen to guest readers. Join the Imaginators for a Fourth of July Extravaganza. Visitors  can make an American flag to wave in our Fourth of July Parade led by Imaginator Jerry G.
