Does happiness equal selfishness?

Did you know that studies have found that happiness seems to make people selfish by encouraging careless and inward looking behavior? According to Joe Forgas at the University of New South Wales in Sydney high levels of happiness generate openness to new experiences and gregariousness, but they also generate a lack of attention to detailed information and recklessness. "People in a positive mood generally rely more on their own thoughts and preferences, and pay less attention to the outside world and social norms," says Forgas.
