Appreciation Event Held in Pemberton Place During Atlanta’s
Veterans Day Parade
Presented by the Georgia Veterans Day Parade Association of Atlanta, Inc., this year’s Veterans Day Parade will begin at 11:11 a.m. in downtown Atlanta and will pass in front of the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola on Baker Street where the Pemberton Place celebration will be held. The celebration will offer visitors the opportunity to interact with military personnel representing various branches of the armed forces, see military equipment up close and learn about some of the many programs that support our veterans.
During the celebration, static displays of military equipment covering a variety of eras and representing several branches of the armed forces will cover the Pemberton Place green space. Notable displays will include an Apache helicopter, Paladin Howitzer and a Vietnam-era UH-1H “Huey” helicopter provided by The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation. The Humvee used by CNN journalists in the first Gulf War will be relocated to Pemberton Place from the atrium of the CNN Center just for this event as well.
In addition, a special demonstration by the United States Army’s Silver Wings Parachute Team will take place at the conclusion of the Veterans Day Parade at approximately 12:30 p.m. Representatives from the Red Cross Military Group and other organizations also will be onsite to provide information regarding their efforts to support members of the armed forces. The Georgia National Guard will share insight into its “Guard Your Business” program which highlights the many advantages business owners may be eligible for when hiring veterans.
