On
September 7th,
Georgia SPCA volunteers and supporters gathered at the Gwinnett
Center Ballroom for magical evening full of lions, scarecrows,
witches, and evil monkeys. This year the goal was to raise $40,000 to
go toward taking care of the animals while they await their “forever"
homes.
Georgia SPCA devote countless hours to rescue abused, neglected and abandoned animals. They are unaffiliated with any other rescue organization including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and they receive no governmental or state funds to support their operations.

Most of the shelter income
is generated from donations or proceeds from fundraisers like
“There's no place like home” benefit bash.
The cost to attend the fundraiser was $50 and included a dinner provided by Proof of the Pudding, an entry for a raffle for a hot air balloon ride for two, a silent auction, and plenty of dancing provided by DJ Audiocake.
Celebrity
guest speakers Pam Johnson-Bennett, CCBC, star of Discovery Channel UK’s new television series, Psycho Kitty and Tim Link, host of nationally syndicated radio show, "Animal
Writes," on Pet Life Radio, and author of Wagging Tales: Every Animal Has a
Tale were present at the event.
Guests were encouraged but not required to dress in their best emerald and white, or dress as their favorite Wizard of Oz character and enter the costume contest.
