HAVE A HISTORIC SUMMER!  Sign up for a writing or history camp We know it seems a long way until summer, but you know better than most that now is the time for parents to be planning the perfect summer camp experiences for their children. The Atlanta History Center, have been busily planning fun, engaging, smart Summer History Camps and Summer Writing Camps, both kicking off the week of June 5. 

Camp H20 is a day camp located at Georgia Aquarium for children grades one through six. Each age group (groups listed below) provides campers with hands-on learning experiences within Georgia Aquarium’s educational facilities and with some of the leading marine biologists in the world. Kids will have the opportunity to learn about marine habitats, explore aquatic animals, gain new skills and make new friends – all inside one of the number one aquarium in the U.S.

Fernbank Science Center in Decatur is now accepting applications for its 2015 sessions of AviationCamp , a one-week summer day camp for rising 4 th to 6th grade students this summer. Two sessions will be held, June 15-19, and June 22-26, 2015. First-time campers learn about the principles of flight. Advanced campers with more experience will try out flight simulators and fly remote-control helicopters. Cost of the camp is $300 per week. Full or partial scholarships, made possible by program sponsor Lockheed Martin, may be available for students who receive free or reduced-price lunch at their school. Fernbank Science Center is owned and operated by the DeKalb County School District, but Aviation Camp is open to students from anywhere. Deadline to apply is May 4.

Save The Horses Camp For Girls is a camp is designed to foster the bond between children and horses in a safe, fun environment. Enjoy activities such as grooming and cleaning the horses, learning their unique diets and assisting with food preparation, the importance of hoof care, and pony rides in the arena. Daily crafts available as well. Camp is limited to 8 campers per session. With four supervisors, the camp focuses on safety of the campers. Spend your summer at the rescue, and make lifelong friends while learning about these amazing animals! Camp is for girl ages 7 through 14 as of the date of camp. 

Enrollment is still open for Fernbank Science Center’s 2014 Lockheed Martin Aviation Camp. This highly acclaimed day camp is open to rising fourth through sixth graders, and will be held from June 16th to 27th. Junior TreeKeepers is a summertime extension of Trees Atlanta’s popular  youth environmental education programs . Inspired after our highly successful  TreeKeeperscertification program , Trees Atlanta is implementing a Junior TreeKeepers program for Atlanta middle and high schools.  During the summer holiday, Junior TreeKeepers offers five days of interactive and hands-on activities in environmental science, as well as field trips to local attractions such as Stone Mountain and 200-year-old forests!  Spend summer in the spotlight at  Georgia Tech's youth theater camps! During the month of June the Georgia Tech Office of the Arts offers a one-week Musical Theatre Camp and a two-week Drama Camp, filling the halls of the Ferst Center with acting, singing, dancing and the making of props and set pieces. Both camps are designed for youth ages 8-14 and finish with a big show on the Ferst Center stage. In Musical Theatre Camp (June 9-13), campers learn to use their voices and bodies as instruments of expression as well as tools for theatrical character development. This camp also focuses on choreography, contemporary performance dance and how to use your voice in a large performing arts theatre. In Drama Camp (June 16-27), campers study acting, technical theater, musical theatre, costuming and dance.   If you are looking for a summer camp for your adventurous child we highly recommend Chastain Horse Park summer day camp. This summer camp is open to kids ages 7 through 14, from beginners to advanced. The camps include activities like grooming and tacking horses, bareback riding and learning about horses in general.
