  ATLANTA (September 5, 2013) – Enter an “imaginary world” at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s annual  Scarecrows in the Garden , celebration during October. Throughout the month, the garden will be stuffed with more than 100 scarecrows created by artists, designers, schools, businesses and families. Participants compete for prizes in one of two design categories: professional and nonprofessional. This year’s event is themed Ogre-tober! – a salute to one of the 19 giant topiary-like sculptures making up the Garden’s popular current exhibition, Imaginary Worlds: Plants Larger Than Life. The exhibition includes a giant Earth Goddess, a pair of towering cobras, a unicorn, butterflies, rabbits, a dog – and one friendly Ogre. Scarecrow designers are encouraged (but not required) to create their own ogre or cobra to mimic the ones in the show – or come up with their own imaginary being, be it based on a childhood story or an urban legend.

There are so many cool attractions in Gwinnett that I have on my bucket list. Luckily, today I can say I can scratch one off. This past weekend our friends at Treetop Quest invited us to experience a very unique eco-adventure. Zip-lining through a lush jungle of trees. If you are unfamiliar with Treetop Quest, this is a unique family friendly obstacle course for all ages, and is one of those things that you need to try at least once in your lifetime.   Treetop Quest offers innovative, engaging recreation for adults and children. INTRODUCING A BETTER WAY TO FLY OVER ATLANTA If you are heading to downtown Atlanta your jaw will drop when you spot the new massive ferris wheel. Located at the South end of Centennial Park in downtown Atlanta, the SkyView Ferris wheel is set up to open for 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, according to spokesman Jason Evans.  The wheel is almost 20 stories high with 42 climate-controlled gondolas that will be able to hold up to 6 people.  With a view like this, everyone will be wanting a ride. And if you want to ride in style, check out the VIP gondola decked out in ferrari leather, with a champagne cooler and TV. Children can participate in cow-themed contests, activities and giveaways * We just got confirmation from Legoland that this event has been cancelled.  Families are invited to join LEGOLAND Discovery Center and Chick-fil-A to prepare for Cow Appreciation Day! On Tuesday, July 9 , from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. , children can learn how to build their own mini LEGO cows, play fun games and get goodies from Chick-fil-A on the second level of Phipps Plaza above Monarch Court. Families will also have plenty of photo opportunities with the Chick-fil-A cows, LEGOLAND Discovery Center’s mascot Bertie and a large LEGO cow built by the attraction’s Master Model Builder! At 1:30 p.m. , contests will be held for best cow costume and best “Moo” for a chance to win tickets to LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
